TRAVEL FROM MARRAKECH TO THE SAHARA ON A PRIVATE 4-
The extra day makes this itinerary more comfortable than a shorter 3-
Continue through the Dades region and Todra Gorge before reaching Merzouga beside the Erg Chebbi dunes. Depending on your confirmed arrangements, enjoy a camel ride around sunset and spend the night in a Sahara desert camp before returning toward Marrakech through southern Morocco.
With private transport and your own driver, the journey allows practical stops for viewpoints, photographs, meals and short visits along the route. This tour is particularly suitable for couples, families and private groups who want a broader Sahara experience with more time than a standard 3-

Daily departure and arrival times are approximate. Traffic, weather, seasonal daylight, road conditions and the time spent at individual stops can affect the schedule.
Before departure, please share your hotel or riad details, luggage requirements and any priority stops so your driver can prepare the most practical version of the route.
Day 1: Marrakech -
Leave Marrakech with your private driver and travel across the High Atlas Mountains toward southern Morocco. The route follows the Tizi n’Tichka road, with opportunities for scenic viewpoints and short stops before reaching Ait Ben Haddou.
Explore the UNESCO-
From Ouarzazate, travel through the Valley of Roses and continue toward Dades Valley and Dades Gorges. The landscape gradually changes from mountain passes and kasbahs to palm groves, rocky valleys and traditional villages. Your private driver can allow practical stops for photographs, refreshments and short walks when timing and road conditions permit.
Approximate driving time: around 6–7 hours, excluding sightseeing, meal breaks and photo stops.
Day 2: Dades Gorges -
After breakfast, leave the Dades region and continue toward Todra Gorge. Stop near the gorge to walk between its high rock walls and enjoy the dramatic scenery of the Todra Valley.
Continue toward Erfoud through southeastern Morocco, passing oasis landscapes, small towns and increasingly arid scenery as you approach the Sahara. Erfoud is an important gateway to the Tafilalt region and is known for date palms, fossils and its position on the route toward Merzouga.
Arrive in Merzouga beside the Erg Chebbi dunes and prepare for your Sahara experience. Depending on your confirmed arrangements, ride by camel into the dunes around sunset or use suitable desert transport to reach your camp. Enjoy the changing colors of Erg Chebbi before dinner and an overnight stay in the desert.
Approximate driving time: around 4–5 hours, excluding sightseeing, lunch and desert activities.
Day 3: Merzouga Camel Ride And Overnight In Merzouga Camp
Spend a full day around Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes, allowing more time to experience the Sahara without another long transfer.
Depending on your interests and the arrangements included in your tour, the day can include scenic drives around the dunes, visits to nearby villages, desert viewpoints and opportunities to learn more about local life in the Merzouga region.
You may also have time for optional activities such as quad biking, buggy rides or additional camel experiences if arranged in advance. The slower pace of this day gives you more time to enjoy the desert landscape, take photographs and relax before another overnight stay in the Merzouga area or desert camp.
Driving time: mainly short local transfers around Merzouga, depending on the activities selected.
Day 4: Merzouga -
Wake early if you would like to watch sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before breakfast. After leaving Merzouga, begin the long return journey toward Marrakech.
Travel through Rissani and continue west through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco toward the Draa Valley and Agdz. This region is known for long stretches of palm groves, traditional adobe villages, kasbahs and dramatic mountain scenery.
Continue toward Ouarzazate before crossing the High Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech. Depending on timing, road conditions and the stops already made earlier in the tour, your driver can include practical breaks and scenic viewpoints along the route.
Arrival in Marrakech is normally in the evening, with drop-
Approximate driving time: around 9–10 hours, excluding meal breaks, sightseeing and rest stops.

Your final quotation and booking confirmation will clearly specify the exact services included. A typical private 4-

Unless specifically stated in your confirmed quotation, the following are normally not included:

This private 4-
Travel across the High Atlas Mountains to Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate, continue through the Valley of Roses and Dades Valley, explore Todra Gorge and reach Merzouga beside the Erg Chebbi dunes. The additional day allows more time in the desert region and creates a better balance between driving, sightseeing and the Sahara experience.
A major highlight is Merzouga itself. Depending on your confirmed arrangements, enjoy a camel ride across the dunes around sunset, spend the night in a desert camp and use the following day to explore more of the Erg Chebbi area, nearby villages and desert landscapes.
Because the tour is private, the vehicle and driver are reserved exclusively for your booking. This gives you more flexibility for viewpoints, photographs, meal breaks and short visits than a fixed group departure.
This itinerary is particularly suitable for couples, families and private groups who want to combine Morocco’s mountain scenery, kasbahs, valleys, gorges and Sahara landscapes while enjoying more time around Merzouga before returning to Marrakech.

How to Get the Best Price
The price of a private 4-
For the most accurate quotation, send us complete information from the beginning. A private group can often achieve a lower price per person because the cost of the vehicle and driver is shared between more travelers. Accommodation also has a significant effect on the total price. Standard hotels and camps will normally cost less than upgraded riads, luxury desert camps or premium rooms.
Booking in advance can provide more choice, particularly during spring, autumn, holiday periods and New Year, when popular desert camps and hotels may fill quickly.
If your budget is flexible, we can suggest different accommodation or camp levels. If you already have a maximum budget, tell us and we can prepare the most practical combination of transport, accommodation and included services.
